GLOSSARY
A policy is the written insurance contract. It includes the declarations page, the coverage forms, endorsements, and the conditions you and the insurer both have to follow.
The policy, not the quote or a verbal summary, is what a claim is measured against. Keep the current version, including any endorsements issued later.
EXAMPLE
Your auto policy names the cars, the drivers, the limits, the deductibles, and the exclusions. Together that packet is “the policy.”
If it is not in the policy, it is hard to make a claim for it later. Understanding the contract before a loss is part of buying insurance, not homework after.
A licensed agent can read the form with you in English, Spanish, or Portuguese and flag the parts that actually affect how you drive and live.
